8-9 Dec 2022 IRPHE, Marseille (France)

Scientific scope

The objective of the workshop is to gather researchers working on inertial-gravity waves in rotating and stratified fluids who are interested in the singularities they may exhibit. The workshop will focus more precisely on attractors and singularities associated with critical surfaces, corners, and boundary discontinuities, in two or three dimensional geometries. Consequences of these singularities in terms of instabilities, zonal flow generation and induced mixing will also be considered. Recent experimental evidence, numerical simulations and theoretical models will be presented and discussed.
